Garden Journal Notes from May 14 to May 30, 2020

This is just my notepad journal. It's basically what I write for my own record when I don't have time to blog. I'll try to update this weekly from here on out.

If you want to see my garden "priority to do list," please let me know. I wasn't going to share that here but I could. You'd see how little of it I get done from week to week and how much it grows. I do what I can, but it's not as much as I'd like to do.

If there's something you'd like to see a picture of, please let me know. I'll take it and try to post it here. If it won't post here, I'll add it to Instagram.

5/14/20
Planted 3 lingonberries (purchased from Etsy seller).
Planted rooted celery.
Planted 9 zinnia seedlings.
Planted dill.
planted cilantro.
pulled weeds.
potted one of the Corsican mint plugs.

5/15/20
Planted last Corsican mint in the sunny window box.
Planted last bush bean with the others.

5/16/20
Planted the three primroses I nursed inside since Ben bought them (January/February/late winter?). They're looking pretty raggedy and pale but I hope being in the ground will help them.

5/17/20
Planted all 3 Territorial plants (tomato, kale, anise hyssop)... tomato in new tomato bag, other two in raised bed #3.
Moved two strawberry plants from tomato bags to raised bed #1.
Noticed that the dill died :( it wasn't looking good so it's not a surprise but still sadPlanted 1 of my tomato seedlings (seed from actual cherry tomato!) in last year's tomato bag (refreshed with compost).

5/18
Planted 4 squash plants grown from seed inside in raised bed #4.
Planted 9 tomato seedlings (8 in raised bed #4, 1 in raised bed #1... the puniest one).
Planted 5 lettuce seedlings in raised bed #3.
Planted 4 strawberry seedlings in raised bed #3 (one fell out of the dirt and I hope it makes it but it looks puny and mangled).
Moved a mint from raised bed #2 to under hollies.
Pulled weeds.

5/19
Moved butterfly bush from window box to more permanent location - near solo butterfly bush, in front of hollies and to left of xeric garden.
Pulled weeds.
Moved a little mint to where big old tree used to be up front (nothing but weeds will grow there so might as well have mint).

5/20
Sprayed poison ivy at corner with 100% vinegar.
Pulled weeds.

5/21
Replanted Corsican mint, Japanese maple and strawberry that critters dug up.
Watered veggies, dahlias and zinnia seedlings (still need to water primroses).

5/22
Weeded
Moved rooted wandering Jew plant to pill bottle for giving away.

5.23
1st day rosemary & rooted oregano out in shade for hardening off.

5.24 (~26 minutes)
Planted rooted rosemary (the cutting won the blue ribbon at local county fair last year and I noticed roots when I picked up my entry so kept it healthy over the winter and potted it inside when ready)- in herb section of bed in front of hollies, near blueberry (between blueberry and oregano).
Planted rooted oregano as it's supposed to be mild the next two days... in raised bed #1 between Swiss chard and lettuce
Dug up the original oregano in window box (had to cut pot off) - in herb section of bed in front of hollies, near blueberry.
Weeded.

5.25.20
Planted forget me not seeds from Mom's garden ... in sunny window box front right corner and partly shaded area in front of formerly solo butterfly bush. Today's the second anniversary of her passing.
Dug up two tulip trees... one had crazy deep roots... for a member of local buy nothing group.
Weeded.
My wonderful man planted 28 new French marigolds for me.

5.26.20
Noticed two tomato plants growing behind the black bag under the siding, so I dug them up and planted one near the squash in raised bed #4 and one where the cilantro was (sadly, it didn't make it) in raised bed #1.
Saw a lot of milkweed growing too close to roses and echinacea so I dug them up... planted 5 and gave 10+ away.
Pulled weeds.. there are so many weeds... I really do not see how they could have laid the whole 11.5 cubic yards of mulch and it's so thin and even bare in places? Did someone take some of the mulch or do I need to double my order next year?
Weeded big marigold pot.

5.27.20
Weeded window boxes and watered forget me not seed areas.
Watered carrots, lettuce, lingonberries, squash and more.
Harvested a radish to go with my lunch. My husband said they don't keep well so I'm just harvesting meal by meal now.

Pulled weeds
Harvested Swiss chard and another radish.

5.29.20
Watered forget me not seed areas, thyme and parsley in pots, 1st big tomato bag
Pulled weeds
Harvested lettuce and radishes

5.30.20
Harvested first bush bean! I ate it raw right after picking and didn't get a picture. It was the only one I noticed that was ready but there are a bunch of little ones on other plants that hopefully will be ready soon. 
At least three of the strawberry plants have almost ripe berries. I almost harvested them so critters don't get to them first but they're in the caged area so I hope they'll be fine.
Watered zinnia seedlings, tomato seedlings, rooted oregano and more.
Weeded around dianthus in window box and under big rosemary in herb garden.
