Hello! I thought I'd copy and paste my order here, for my own reference, and come back and update details as relevant (maybe when they ship it, when it arrives, how things look upon arrival etc.). Also I thought, since I have the bad habit of just ordering whatever looks nice at the moment (I really, really need to make a garden map and plan instead of being so
---
I am most excited about the boysenberry plants, even though I haven't been successful with blueberry or blackberry plants and only mildly successful with strawberry plants. I used to love this boysenberry soft drink and have always wanted to try the berries.
---
Someone on YouTube (sorry, I don't remember who... maybe Rob Greenfield during his Florida experiment?) showed their patch of African blue basil and I thought it was beautiful. It was also swarming with bees and I thought it would be great to grow so I'm excited about that too.
---
I'm hoping to grow potatoes for the first time this year and I seemed to remember something about companion planting them with snow peas, which I love to eat, so I'm excited about that too.
---
I haven't seen butternut squash for sale anywhere (except as "sold out") so I thought I'd try this crookneck squash. I think my mom grew squash of all kinds but I don't remember ever growing it myself so that's a first time thing to anticipate too.
---
We love growing Mexican sunflowers and the birds, butterflies and bees love them too. They aren't edible, that I know of, but they definitely make me smile. We especially love that the Monarch butterflies flock to them. I'm expecting the milkweed to self seed so I didn't buy any but the Monarch butterflies have laid eggs on our milkweed in the past and I love watching the whole life cycle.
---
I haven't grown amaranth before either and I have a seed packet of a red type from a different company but thought it'd be neat to compare the two. Even if I don't figure out how to harvest the grain from it before the birds do, I plan on trying some of the tender leaves and know it'll look great in the garden.
---
Basically, I'm looking forward to everything in this order.
---
I have no idea what the "free seed variety 2" is but I assume it's a gift with purchase. I didn't add it to my cart but I did notice it was there after I'd added the first two items. It will be a surprise. If it's nothing I can use maybe I'll offer it as a giveaway here (please comment if you'd like to see that happen).
